Double Take
On consultant’s orders I didn’t go too mad at my sister-in-law-to-be’s hen weekend, so you know, I paced myself and was relatively well behaved. At one point I snuck back to the hotel room and watched Great Expectations on telly from 1946. Absolute joy that was.
Anyway, when I got back on Sunday I felt a bit jaded rather than hungover, so when my 11-year-old started to talk to me about physics at the dinner table that evening, I just stared at him. Like, I stopped doing physics when I was 13. I don’t know how electricity works. I know electric blue is a good colour for mascara and ford escorts if it’s 1985 , and every time I see an electric blue Range Rover now my eye is caught by it, so maybe it’s due a massive come back. I also love to use it when I design tartans because I find it lifts the tartan for on-screen e-comm photography, but electricity itself, as an entity in its own right, is witchcraft and magic if you ask me. Anyway, back to the 11-year-old, he stared at me and said, and I kid you not…
“I feel like Father Ted talking to Father Dougal”
Like how does he even know who they are? He’s 11 years old! Cheeky thing! I sent him for a shower whilst inwardly thinking “Good point, well made son”
