We’re back from our holidays now.

You know that thing when you land at the airport somewhere abroad and you tell the kids to feel the heat as it hits you when you get off the plane? My youngest was impressed. What I hadn’t realised was that, in this instance, he was impressed with the heat inside an air conditioned airport.

We collected our bags, walked outside onto the tarmac to find our transfer.
BLOODY BLAST FURNACE.

I mean it’s fine isn’t it, because it’s abroad – so unlike here – everyone has aircon. Plus, you’re not racing about because you’re on your holidays. You just get into a taxi and it’s cold, you go to a restaurant and it’s cold, so there is respite from it. It’s just that whilst the air coming off the Med was a wonderfully welcome breeze, the sea itself was literally hotter than the air. It was the strangest thing ever.

I grew up on Anglesey camping holidays where you BRACE BRACE and spend the afternoon in the grey Irish Sea with skin bluer than sapphires. I recall hearing, “It’s OK once you get your shoulders under,” and there would always be a sibling or cousin ready to throw a bucket of water over your head if you took too long to get your shoulders under. You feel amazing afterwards, but that initial getting yourself in was a shocker.

Anyway, we’re back now. The Summer Sale’s still on but will be finishing soon, so grab a bargain while you can. The code SUMMER24 will also give you 20% OFF anything not in the sale.
