In bloom – walking through a flower farm
As the Autumn season kicked in there was an absolute jewel of a day where the sun was warm enough for a jumper but not yet a coat. My friends took me to a flower farm for a belated birthday treat.
Essentially you arrive and are greeted by a wonderful host who gives you a large bucket ready to fill. She then instructed us to pile the bucket high with as many flowers as possible. She talked to us about colour, shape and texture and then let us loose on her rows and rows of planted flowers.
We had an amazing couple of hours picking, arranging and admiring flowers all the while being fed homemade cake and cups of tea in china teacups. I mean what could be better than that? We laughed a lot and let our senses soak it all up. I love days like this because I often look to the natural world to influence fabric design, so it’s such an opportunity to be able to really look at the way colours sit with each other. It was just a beautiful thing to do.
If you’re ever near North Staffordshire, the farm is called Quirky Flowers. Click the link. I’m not an influencer, but honestly, you couldn’t wish for a better day-out experience.
