The Netflix production team bought several gowns from Leek-based British Boxers last year.
A North Staffordshire luxury nightwear and underwear brand is celebrating after spotting its dressing gowns in Netflix's hit royal drama The Crown. Leek-based British Boxers were approached last year by the show's production team - and this week were excited to see two of the items on screen.
StokeOnTrentLive reported last year that The Crown's production team had ordered several dressing gowns with the intention of using them in series five of the hit show, which was released last week. Eagle-eyed British Boxers staff posted a series of photographs on their Facebook page showing Imelda Staunton, as Queen Elizabeth II, wearing their powder pink and ash grey herringbone dressing gowns.
The brushed cotton gowns cost £110 and can be bought with a matching nightshirt, pyjama set, pyjama trousers and sleep short separates.
Founder and managing director Deborah Price set up the Leek -based business after working for years as a buyer in London. She got the inspiration for the name British Boxers from her great-great-great-grandfather, Jem Mace, who was the first World Heavyweight Boxing Champion.
The brand has been sold in various shops such as Harrods, independent department stores, lingerie shops, and online on the shop's official website. The Midsomer Murders production team have also previously ordered a dressing gown, which was set to be worn by a character played by actor Adrian Edmondson.
The British Boxers team didn't know which character would be wearing their dressing gowns - or even if they would just be hanging up in the background of a scene - so they were delighted to see them worn by the Queen herself.
Founder Deborah Price told StokeOnTrentLive: "We're absolutely delighted that they've used the dressing gowns in the show. The stylist had at least five dressing gowns and so far we've seen two of them on screen but we’re only up to episode two so there may be more to come. It's so lovely for a local brand to be recognised as fit for a queen."
