Closing ranks for the football seemed really good. For the first time through the divisions and polarisations of recent years, it felt like a refreshing exhale that we could all come together as one country to support our players. We could feel proud of the goodness that we can be and show off to the world about the positive force that we are when we’re at our best.

That it takes footballers, football managers and ordinary people to lead the nation in decency, common goal and an ability to voice real issues like racism – issues which should have been put to bed 50 years ago – is both wonderful that they can but horrifyingly shocking that they have to.

British Boxers stands with those young footballers fighting for a Britain that is universally welcoming. One of pride in who we can be and who we are when we’re at our very best.
