Dog Days
With our team I like to be as accommodating as possible. If you have a school play you want to go to, go to it. If you have a poorly child, stay off with them. I rock up after 9am most mornings because it it means I can drop my eldest at her sixth form and get my steps in by walking to work rather than driving. Many of the team work school hours, or extra hours in the weeks preceding Christmas so they can have more time off with their kids in the holidays. As a team we’re forcing the business to work for us. The business is loyal to us and in return we’re loyal to the business. Nobody takes the mickey. We love it and it works. All good.
This was a new one to me though. Listen to this… before Christmas Jane joined the team to help us pick, pack and get orders out of the door during peak season. She asked if she could have the whole of March and April off. Absolutely no problem, I thought. Why though? Seems like an unusual request. I was intrigued, so I asked. "To do lambing. I have sheep,” she said.
Amazing! She’s up every night helping her hundreds of gorgeous rare breed sheep have their baby lambs. I’d send you a photo of the lambs but they’ve not started yet. I’ll put a pic on Instagram when she sends one.
This week to kick off the spring baby-thon her Labrador had puppies instead. She sent a pic on our work WhatsApp group. (The WhatsApp group, if you’re wondering, isn’t a passive-aggressive nightmare one. It’s just a “can someone get milk on the way in please” and “Misty has had puppies” and “I know it’s only March, but where should we go for the Christmas do” sort of thing.)
We still have a Sale tab on the website if you’re looking for a bargain, and the code EXTRA10 is still live. We’re not shouting loudly about that though at the moment because new stock will be arriving very soon.
Have a great week all. And there's a pic of Misty and her 5 lovely puppies above.
