French Kiss
When I worked in London we’d sometimes go to Paris to the big textile trade show called Premier Vision. It’s essentially where all the buyers and suppliers go to source the cloth from mills all over the world that they need to launch their collections 12 months later.
In the evenings everyone would get trolleyed on expenses and bond with the buyers you’d be selling to or the suppliers you’d be buying from. So I’d been to Paris many times before but I felt I’d never really been there to, good wine aside, soak it up. It wasn’t a city I knew.
My other half and I spent 4 days away this week learning it and it’s been really special. We stayed in a tiny hotel in Montmartre a beautiful area of artists, cafés and restaurants. Picasso had lived in the block we were in. Lautrec around the corner. Autumn sunshine made it warm enough just to sit outside and people watch. I practiced my French on the locals proudly telling them I’d reached day 487 on Duolingo (ooh get me) and they practiced their English back at me but we got by. We understood each other.
I feel like I’ve learned how Paris works now and can’t wait to go back. I’m assuming you don’t want to see our big fat faces on your email so instead here’s a picture of some amazing cheese and wine which essentially sums up the lovely break. Massive thanks to the team for holding the fort back here! Emma tells me the discount code AUTUMN20 is still working on all our full-priced things on the website.
Enjoy!
