Try our Staffordshire Oatcake Mix!

It was Staffordshire Day this week. As we’re based in this wonderful county, we’ve teamed up with the good people at The Staffordshire Oatcake Company to bring you a delicacy I’d never heard of until I moved here 18 years ago. Now, I know the fabulousness of a Scottish oatcake with a slice of good cheddar, but these are something totally different and so mustn’t be confused with those. These are like a cross between a hot wrap, a crumpet and a pancake. It originated as a type of fast food sold from a hole in the wall at the end of rows of terraced houses to feed the workers of the pottery industry based in Stoke-on-Trent.

There’s still a shop 200 yards from our front door. You can order them there and choose your filling –  usually some combination of sausage, bacon, melted cheese and mushrooms.

Made in Stoke on Trent using entirely natural ingredients, we’re selling packs which have enough mixture to make approximately 12 oatcakes. For £5.95 the Staffordshire Oatcake breakfast can be yours! They’re delicious.
